Our day started with a tour of Schombrunn Palace, home of the Habsburg family, one of the most influential royal houses of Europe. The Habsburgs ruled for over 600 years - their empire ended in 1918 at the end of World War I when the Emperor abdicated and the new nation state of Austria was created.
After our tour of Schonbrunn Palace, we headed back to the old city where we had free time to explore Vienna. First stop was to Sacher Hotel for a piece of the world-famous Sacher Torte.
We then enjoyed walking around enjoying the sunny skies ( our first since we got here), people watching and viewing more Viennese sweet treats.
Our evening was amazing - we traveled to Kursalon Wien where we got to see a concert featuring one of the best Viennese Walz orchestras. Vienna, known as the world capital of music, is home to Mozart, Straus and other famous musicians.

The music was fantastic - we all agreed that this special evening will be one of our trip highlights!
